A Trooper I knew died last week
What pain he was living,
I cannot speak

He is one of a dozen
in not enough years,
for whom we pay homage
through salty tears

What he was thinking,
I cannot speak

I only hope
from this we can grow
and learn the things
we ought to know

To lend our support
in times of need
and strive to plant
that little seed

of hope and love
and all that's good
just because
we know we should
