"COUNTY JAIL"

A LOT GOES ON BEHIND THESE WALLS
WE SEE A LOT
WE SEE IT ALL

 THOUGH THE PAY ISN’T MUCH
WE DO THE JOB
WE ARE A SELECTED BUNCH

WE MEET IN BRIEFING AND THEN GO TO WORK
WE DON’T STRAP ON GUNS
JUST OUR BADGE AND OUR SHIRTS
WE DO CARY A SET, OF HAND CUFFS OR TWO
A CAN OF MACE, A MOTOROLA TOO

OUR JOB GOES UN NOTICED BEHIND THESE WALLS
WE ARE COUNSELORS
AND NURSES
AND WE ENFORCE THE LAW

THE ONES ARRESTED ON THE STREETS
THE MURDERERS
THE MOLESTERS
EVEN THE FREAKS

THEY ALL COME IN THROUGH OUR DOORS
WE WATCH THEM
WE FEED THEM
WE MAKE SURE THEY MAKE COURT

WE ARE MEN AND WOMEN WHO DO THE JOB
WHEN WE PUT ON THE BADGE WE ARE THE LAW
SO NEXT TIME YOU READ THE PAPER AND SEE
A MAN OR WOMEN BEHIND BARS
REMEMBER ME.
